The seasoned Sprintcar racer will take to the TFH Hire truck that was due to be run by Brett Thomas. Thomas is a last minute exclusion after pulling up sore from a hard landing during testing at Valvoline Raceway on Thursday.
As well as competing in the myPlates Stadium Super Trucks torture test which will see the life size Traxxas off-road racers soar nearly 20 metres in the air, Reidy will step into his #5 Desert Palms Resort Ultimate Sprintcar for the fourth round of that Championship.
The surrounds of an off-road truck aren’t new to Reidy – who cut his teeth in the Territory as a youngster in the Finke-style of racing before becoming one of the most recognised emerging stars on the National Sprintcar scene.
Naturally, he is excited about competing in front of the huge Valvoline Raceway crowds in both disciplines.
“It is going to be busy racing between the two, but it will be pretty awesome,” said Reidy. “I saw the trucks last weekend on the Gold Coast and they are out of control. It will be a new environment for me, especially hitting that huge jump in the middle of the track, but I love a good challenge and this will be it.”
The Stadium Super Trucks have become an international sensation over the last three years – with founder, Robby Gordon describing them as the outcome of throwing a ‘monster truck, motocross bike and V8 Supercar all chucked in a blender.’
The trucks develop as much power at a similar weight to that of a V8 Supercar, however the unique King Springs allow them to take to the ramps like those which will line the Valvoline Raceway.
The show will be one of the wildest seen at Valvoline Raceway in its nearly 30 year history. 11 trucks featuring six Americans and five Australians will take to the track which includes a crossover, five major jumps flat out sections on the 460 metre clayway.
Founder Robby Gordon will lead Team America and will be ably backed up by Gold Coast race winners, Burt Jenner (son of Caitlyn Jenner), Sheldon Creed and Keegan Kincaid, along with Bill ‘The Thrill’ Hynes and 17-year-old Scotty Steele in the Def Leppard/Live Australian Tour trucks.
Reidy will be on the Australian squad with third generation racer, Matt Brabham, 2014 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 Champ, Paul Morris, Offroad specialist Greg Gartner and Hot Wheels action sports specialist, Matt Mingay – who was the first Aussie to win a Stadium Super Trucks race on the Gold Coast last weekend.
Earlier today, the myPlates Stadium Super Trucks drivers took to Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway for a karting challenge. The psychological advantage went the way of Matt Brabham who led home Scotty Steele and a hard charging Burt Jenner.
The Halloween double header Stadium Super Trucks Vs. Ultimate Sprintcars at Valvoline Raceway – 21 Wentworth Street, Clyde (Granville) fires into life at 5:30pm on Saturday night. Tickets will be available at the gate.
